A new tradition

Yes it is true I do seem to start new tradition's often but this one is a keeper!

My first time making an Easter Tree. It is possible that these project's can be a distraction to the true meaning of Easter but I feel they are a good reminder and I enjoy being reminded of " fresh starts" and "new beginings".

fancy a challenge

So my sister Abigail was kind enough to send me a book recently. Mind you, only the brave can read this one. It's called "Nourishing Tradition's" by Sally Fallon. I have to say my kid's are not happy with Abigail for bringing this into my life....It really challenges our mind sets and misguided information about what we believe about food and so called studies that have been done through the decades. There is too much information for me to give you but if you are up to a challenge please get hold of this book.
Needless to say my cooking style has been going through a bit of a transformation and it has stirred up some unhappy kid's. I was trying to explain to my oldest how when you love your family you want to do your very best to fill their bodies with the best possible food. This can mean that your kid's aren't happy, i find this very hard.
I love a challenge and i love to make my babes happy. It seems 2010 will be an interesting year..

the day before "mothers day"

Some really nice person cleaned my floors today and another lovely person made sure all the dishes got put in the dishwasher so there wasn't any dirty dishes hanging around in the morning. The bed's have all been made and the floors have been vacumed. The dinner was perfection as always, it would be hard to beat it tommorow! and who did all these special things for me????????yeah you guessed it.....ME.
I sure feel sorry for the family who have to impress me tommorow they have a hard act to follow........
Seriously though may all Mothers get more than they deserve tommorow.......enjoy the pampering!!!!!

So we just found out that we will not be moving into a bigger house that is frankly long overdue!!! I am trying to use my disappointment into some positive energy..The best way to appreciate your own house is to reorganise and bring spring into it,wouldn't you say???

It alway's has to be like this

before it can get to this.... I just love these jar's, can't get enough of them. You can never go wrong with a wicker basket or a new spring tablecloth.

So i am trying to be grateful, although Steve would say being grateful is a very exspensive buisness....

oh i love a challenge

two interesting things have happened this week. I have had a perm!!!!! and it's a not an eighties throw back one either it's worked really well .

Secondly Florence has had an allergy and intolerance test which has shown up high for gluten and oats. This is going to take some getting used to but i am looking forward to the challenge. I think we could all do with a little less wheat in our diet's so i will be doing a lot of experimenting with different flours. I tried a lemon and polenta cake yesterday which turned out great. It's very moist and who can complain about lemon in anything?
